Time for a Revival... For Ourselves & Our Shoes

Time for a Revival... For Ourselves & Our Shoes

Summer is in full swing, and we’re celebrating with excellent style.  Let the old become new again, let the unfamiliar get reacquainted. This Summer collection calls for a total REVIVAL of our souls and our shoe closets!

The new Inkkas designs named Unity, La Dama, Hendrix, and Zocalo respectively stand for togetherness, women’s empowerment, the American vintage spirit, and Latin American folk art. Let’s explore some of the ways that we can start conversations, re-discover cultural works of art, and come together as a community. When we move forward together, the sky is the limit and our human connection binds us all.

Start A Conversation

Telling stories and addressing issues from a female perspective has never been more important, and when women support each other, everyone is uplifted. A blog called HelloGiggles has a mission to tell women’s stories from a fresh, modern perspective. Founded by actress Zoey Deschanel in 2011, this blog provides beauty tips, advice columns, topical political news, and financial information. HelloGiggles recently published an article that details Asian American women and their experiences being stereotyped in society. Articles that deal with difficult topics affecting women, and told from a woman’s point of view, helps to ensure authentic and dynamic truth-telling and story sharing.

Immerse Yourself in Art

Tradition interrupted by cultural revolution tends to characterize some of the most renowned art. For example, during the social changes of the 19th and 20th centuries, the arts community responded through dramatic shifts in visual mediums. Pablo Picasso created modern art using cubism. Trailblazer Jean-Michel Basquiat brought graffiti to the gallery.  Frida Kahlo rocked the art world with her widely recognized and unapologetic self-portraits. Her messaging; “at the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”  Art in all of its forms -- whether modern and bold, or traditional and foundational, or everything in between -- is good for the soul.

Come Together as a Community

People are craving a reason to come together. Unity in the face of adversity is what makes our society stronger; it is the fuel that propels us forward. In the past year, it has been common for individuals to feel increasingly alone and overwhelmed. Joining an online community can help relieve some of that stress and anxiety. CafeMom.com connects parents across the world. There are thousands of groups to choose from, but even if you don’t find the perfect group for you, you can create one that caters to your needs!

Don’t have kids? Or maybe you just need a momentary break from your little bundles of joy. Dog lovers out there raise your hands! (or paws if your canine friend is sitting next to you.) Dogster.com is an online forum that brings together all dog lovers who crave information about dog training, behavior, breeds, and veterinarians suggestions. The best part about this platform is that you can even share photos of your friendly pooch and see photos of other people's dogs as well. This shared canine camaraderie is a message that we can all get behind.
