This past weekend in my neighborhood, people turned their porches into stages and their sidewalks into a venue. Porchfest and a flea market on the same day — which means you'd go outside for one thing and end up three blocks away listening to a band you'd never heard of, holding something you bought for $4 and didn't need, talking to someone you'd somehow never met. That's May (and that's Takoma Park). It seems the best walks start with leaving the door open.
Wandering · Tending · Blooming
Wandering works because you're not trying... you're just open to whatever turns up. May rewards that more than any other month — and it has a way of making you want to do things. The flea market find you walked past twice before picking it up. The band you only stopped for because the sound drifted through someone's fence and you had nowhere else to be. The garden you're finally going to tend to this weekend (you've been saying so since March). Somewhere in the middle of all of it, there's a rhythm — dirty hands, good light, a day in May that turns out better than planned.

There's something in the air right now — a craving for the human-made thing, the hand-touched thing. For the knowledge that some things are still stubbornly, beautifully human. There's a particular kind of shoe that fits this life — one that looks intentional but isn't precious about it. Our collections are made for people who do things: handcrafted soles, patterns drawn from the natural world, built to move through days that don't always go as planned. The garden doesn't care what you're wearing. But you will.

Some shoes you put on for one thing and end up wearing for everything. Since our Moxie Collection launched this Spring, three styles have risen to the top — and they keep rising. The Naia Slip Ons, Monterey Tennis, and Lily Sandals are the ones showing up in weekend photos, at farmers markets, on walks that started short and ended long. They're our bestsellers for a reason: they hold up to the day you're actually having.

If you're out there in your Inkkas, we want to see it. Tag @inkkasworldwear and use #WednesdayWalk to be featured in a future issue.
Wishing you light steps, good dirt, and something beautiful to tend to,
